Opening of a series of exhibitions of paintings by Maxim Brovchenko dedicated to the third anniversary of the war, “For Victory,” in Zaporizhia

On February 24, 2025, a series of events involving Maxim Brovchenko, the “Ukrainian Picasso,” began in Zaporizhia as part of the “To Victory” project.

The project by a young artist and writer with autism is dedicated to one of the bloodiest dates in Ukrainian history—the third anniversary of the treacherous full-scale invasion by the Russian aggressor.

The first event, in the form of an exhibition of paintings and a creative meeting with the author, took place at the Khortytskyi Cultural Center (15 Preobrazhensky Avenue). Maksym Brovchenko, whose talent has been nurtured by the NGO “Child with a Future” for many years, showed guests 29 of his paintings on cosmic and patriotic themes. Before the war, the boy filled his canvases with unusual planets, stars, and galaxies inhabited by good and peaceful creatures. However, after February 24, 2022, Maksym began painting pictures about the war and the suffering of his beloved homeland, exhibiting them at auctions, exhibitions, and social events, and raising funds to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for which the young man received an award from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The first exhibition within the framework of the “To Victory” project began on February 24 at 4 p.m. and took place in a very warm atmosphere, as many guests—both adults and children—came to see the paintings and meet the unusually talented boy whom the Ukrainian media has dubbed “little Picasso.” Maksym Brovchenko talked about each painting on display and happily answered questions from visitors, making the opening of the exhibition feel more like a friendly evening than an official event.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who visited my exhibition today. It was interesting not only to show my work, but also to talk to people and hear their thoughts and feelings. Despite the extremely difficult times Ukraine is going through, I believe in the victory of our homeland and that good will surely overcome evil,” the young artist shared his impressions of the event.

The exhibition of paintings by Maxim Brovchenko at the Khortytskyi Cultural Center (Zaporizhzhia) will run until March 5, 2025, so be sure to join the world of beauty and goodness, which Ukraine so desperately needs right now. Admission is free.

From March 6, 2025, the project will continue at the Youth Cultural Center (53 Myroslav Symchych Street), where, in addition to the exhibition of paintings, Maksym Brovchenko will present his book “Planet A” to visitors. The presentation will begin at 4 p.m. In his book, the young artist puts forward his hypothesis about the emergence of autistic people on Earth and talks about the causes of wars, so this work will be interesting not only for the younger generation but also for adults. The exhibition will run until March 16, 2025. Admission is free.

The creative cycle of the project “To Victory” will be completed with a concert program by the band “Situation,” whose members include Maxim’s mother, Oksana Brovchenko, and musician and performer Maxim Nakonechny. The concert will take place on March 17, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Titan Cultural Center (131 Peremohy Street). An exhibition of Maksym Brovchenko’s paintings will also open at the same location and will continue until March 28, 2025. We invite you to attend!
